20mm Tatami Mats

20mm Jigsaw Mats

What’s the difference between the cheaper 80kg/cbm and the premium 120kg/cbm 20mm jigsaw mat?

80kg/cbm is a measure of density, 80kgs of EVA is packed into a cubic meter. The higher the density the more durable the mat and the more impact it can absorb. The amount of EVA used drives the price. But how much is right? The primary goal is to stop the 20mm jigsaw mat from “going to zero” meaning it compresses so much you hit the floor. 20mm jigsaw mat thickness is considered sufficient for stand up martial arts that wear head gear. Such as Karate, kickboxing and taekwondo. The 80kg/cbm is softer underfoot and is most popular for clubs and in particular kids. The 120kg/cbm can be used for competition and if your mats are not a permanent fixture you may consider the higher density option. Ripping mats up in a rush without due care can tear teeth and create toe trap, the higher density mats will last longer in this case.

20mm Jigsaw Mats are perfect for striking sports and sports where competitors need to be light on their toes and close the distance quickly. Having less cushioning than the 30mm and 40mm jigsaw foam mats allows for a great spring in the step. WAKO sparring rings are 6m x 6m (36 mats) or 8m x 8m (64 mats) for major finals. Consider using a safe sparring zone to minimise injuries to fighters and spectators.

Jigsaw mats care: British Jigsaw Mats recommends cleaning mats with sugar soap or soapy water. Never use detergents as the mats will deteriorate when the EVA material used to make the jigsaw mats reacts with the chemicals in the detergents.

20mm jigsaw foam mats are reversible to prolong the life of the mat and facilitate zonal marking such as start points and safe areas.

20mm jigsaw mats can be stored in trolleys of 1.1m x 1.1m and varying heights.

Our mats are fully tested for Mechanical and Physical Properties, Flammability and more…
